History

1993 - Creation of Clinique Axium

Founded in 1993, Clinique Axium is a multidisciplinary private hospital establishment. It was created from the merger of three private establishments:

  • The Aix-en-Provence Angiology Clinic,
  • The Vauvenargues Cardiovascular Centre,
  • The Clinique Val Frais in Septèmes-les-Vallons.

2004 - Short-stay medical and surgical care

In 2004, the Axium clinic gave up its medium-stay activity and transformed itself into a medical-surgical short-stay establishment, increasing the capacity of its operating theatres by installing additional rooms, bringing the number of operating theatres to 12 and the number of examination rooms to 2.

Over the years, it has become a specialist establishment in the following areas:

  • Surgery, with major centres in orthopaedics, digestive surgery and urology.
  • In hand surgery, where it represents a centre of excellence that necessitated the opening of a S.O.S. MAIN centre in 2009, which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • In medicine, with a multi-purpose adult department, an endoscopy technical platform and an intensive care and continuous monitoring department.
  • Cardiology, with a very high-level technical platform for coronary angiography, cardiological intensive care and cardiological medicine. Since 2011, these 3 services have formed a health cooperation group.
  • Outpatient surgery with a recently renovated department.

2009 - Development of obesity surgery

Since 2009, the Axium clinic has been developing obesity surgery, and a multidisciplinary care network called resO13 has been set up around the surgery. The two practising surgeons are Dr Mathieu Kadji and Dr Cédric Angot.

October 2011 - Cooperation between the Polyclinique du Parc Rambot and the Clinique Axium

In October 2011, the Polyclinique du Parc Rambot and the Clinique Axium set up a healthcare cooperation group for interventional cardiology. It is called G.C.S AXIUM-RAMBOT and is located at 21 avenue Alfred Capus on the premises of the Axium clinic.

August 2014 - An MRI scanner is installed

Since August 2014, the clinic has been equipped with the latest generation of MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) equipment. This device, equipped with a 5-tonne magnet, is the third in the Aix-en-Provence area.
